Using Access Live In The Transportation Industry

In Build Your Strategy, Increase Engagement, Utilize the Technology

The applications for Access LiveTM are endless. From school board meetings, to hospitals speaking with their communities, to government agencies communicating with citizens, everyone can use Access Live to reach their audience. The transportation industry is no exception. In fact, there are a multitude of opportunities for organizations, such as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Regional Transportation District (RTD), for example, to speak with riders and drivers in their area.

Here’s how Access Live technology in the transportation space has allowed organizations to spread the word about upcoming projects and provide citizens with updates on changes and improvements happening in their backyards:

Transportation organizations, such as CDOT and RTD, have used Access Live to speak with residents about road construction projects, changes to public transit fares and routes, and listen to commuters speak about the service and experience in their state. They’ve gathered feedback and information from participants through a polling function, getting opinions from local residents on questions like:

  • What is the most critical improvement you think needs to be made on our roads?
  • How would you describe traffic volumes in Southwest Colorado?
  • How frequently do you ride RTD?
  • Which RTD passes do you currently use the most?
  • What is your impression of the quality of service of RTD?

The answers they received allowed these organizations to make improvements and updates according to what their communities want to see change, while also letting participants know that their opinions and concerns matter.

Thank you for having this meeting. I’ve never heard of calls being done like this. I appreciate you doing it.”

– Event Participant

In addition to utilizing poll questions, these organizations have given participants the opportunity to ask their own questions live. Participant questions have covered topics such as cost effectiveness, budgeting, route expansion, parking, and more. By hosting a live Q&A, not only are participants able to get their specific questions answered, but the organization is able to hear what matters most to their audience and provide them accurate information about those issues.

Organizations invite expert guest speakers to join events in order to educate participants and answer questions thoroughly. In past transportation Access Live events, these guests have included members of the organizations with titles such as:

  • Board Directors and Chairs
  • General Manager of Planning
  • Project Managers
  • City Transportation Planners
  • City Mayors

Giving your audience access to these important members and decision-makers in their community helps create a relationship built on trust and communication.

It’s a simple thing for people to be able to pick with the polling function. up a phone and be able to talk to you, and that is our best way of reaching the public.”
– Amy Ford, Former Director of Communications, CDOT
