SUCCESS STORY

Big Walnut Local Schools held an Access Live event to speak with participants about the bond issue that was passed in the latest election, allowing them to plan for growth. The bond and permanent improvement levy provides for new space and upkeep on existing facilities. Access Live technology made the information available however parents and community members wanted to join: by landline, mobile phone, or via live stream on Big Walnut’s website. Participants could join from anywhere - their house, their car, at work - allowing for higher participation and engagement rates than in-person meetings. This resulted in important information being shared to over 800 participants.

Update: FCC Rules in Favor of Schools

In August of 2016, the FCC released a Declaratory Ruling which clarified the rules applicable to schools for dialing mobile and landline phones under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Specifically, the FCC stated that school callers can make autodialed calls to student family wireless phones for emergencies including weather closures, fire, health risks, threats and unexcused absences, as well as non-emergency notifications that are closely related to the school’s mission, such as upcoming teacher conferences or general school activity.

In short, you can now contact your ENTIRE school district with a single phone call!
